LA CANONICA

Set in hills of ancient chestnut woods overlooking a Romanesque church, let the gentle babble of the nearby river cleanse your mind. This beautifully restored Canonry is the perfect place to relax. It's an easy ten minute walk to the local village, the medieval hamlet of Crespiano with it’s excellent family-run trattoria and bar. Just below Galetti you'll find the local baker making fresh bread and cakes. He's quite hidden and shuts after 10 when he makes his deliveries to the local villages.
The house is perfectly equipped for summer or winter stays. There are three en-suite double rooms, a family kitchen with a wood-fuelled oven, electric oven and a large gas hob, wireless internet and a comfortable sitting room with a large TV and well stocked DVD library. Underfloor heating, wood-turning stoves and open fires in the sitting room and kitchen make this house wonderfully cosy when it's chilly outside.
The house has traditional, hand made terracotta tiles throughout.
Which keep the house cool in the hot summer months and warm, with the additional underfloor heating, in the cold winter months.
The house is built into a hillside, like so many properties in this area, so the accommodation is on many levels. which means stairs!
Out by the pool a huge stone table with seating for eight is a great place to hang out during the heat of the day. The outside areas have large day beds and wooden tables for eating and relaxing, while the pool house has a small outside kitchen with a fridge for chilling wine. The property has it's own beautiful little chapel, a perfect place to sit in the cool and enjoy the tranquility of this unique place.
A local cook and cleaner can be organised upon request.

Guests can enjoy all of the many hidden terraces and gardens that make up
Piagneto. It's easy to escape to a secluded part of the property. There's a boules piste
(with boules at the property) to provide competitive enjoyment as the sun goes down with a glass of something delicious.
The area is full of great, family run trattoria's. The local restaurant is two minutes by car or a ten minute walk. It's a very popular place and serves the most delicious, local food. The area is famous for its beautiful walks in the hills, so if you'd like to avoid the beaches and head up towards Comano (5 minutes away by car) you'll be up in the hills of the natural parks, full of lakes which are the seasonal home of the local horses. It's very beautiful to see. The stunning Ligurian coastline is within 35 minutes away. Make an early start and breakfast on the beach then catch one of the many boats that take one to the Cinque Terra, stop off at any of the beautiful little, coloured villages, full of delicious places to eat, before walking along the breathtaking coastal path along the Cinque Terra. In August this area is full of village parties. Everybody is welcome to sit down and eat local food and dance in the local piazzas until well into the evening. These are cheap nights out with all the family and so much fun.
